Abstract:
In the autumn of 1983, following the cotton harvest, the plots were seeded to wheat and barley with the intention of using the subsurface drip system to supplement winter rainfall for leaching salts which accumulated in the soil profile during the summer, and also to obtain a second crop from the same field. Following the grain harvest, the field was planted again to cotton. The effect of irrigation water quality on yield, salt distribution, and soil sodicity under the various drip treatments, is discussed.
