Abstract:
Cultured shoot tips often undergo a stable change that results in the formation of abnormal shoots. Their leaves do not transport auxin in the normal polar fashion and their structure is distinguished by limited vascular tissues and large cells with no clear axis of elongation. It is suggested that the loss of cell polarization is an early, determining event in the abnormal development, and this influences the structure of most if not all mature tissues. © 1986 Gustav Fischer Verlag, Stuttgart.
