A survey of the technology of grain aeration is given. The experimental work on this method in temperate climates and the main uses of aeration at different air volumes and their expected benefits are elaborated. The benefits and limitations of grain aeration in warm climates are discussed and the results of experimental work in subtropical climates, aimed at the prevention of insect attack are given. The recent studies on grain aeration with refrigerated air are reviewed, and the prospects of its use in countries of warm climates are evaluated. Copyright © 1972, Wiley Blackwell.
