Abstract:
A new scanning mechanism was developed to be employed in a unique system for mechanically detaching the seeds from pomegranate fruit, which are to be packed in a special consumer package for fresh consumption. The machine is based on a two-degrees-of-freedom system which enables oscillations around two perpendicular axes. Two pitman mechanisms which are mounted on a bevel gear actuate the movement of the gimbals through the two pitman mechanisms. It is believed that the mechanism can be implemented successfully in many other applications.
