Abstract:
1. 1. Proteins of laying hen serum and of egg-yolk were resolved by disc electrophoresis and compared with male chick serum proteins. 2. 2. Phosphoproteins were traced by autoradiography after administration of 32P to cockerels and laying hens, and lipoproteins by staining with Sudan Black. 3. 3. A specific lipophosphoprotein complex, absent from other samples, was detected in the laying hen serum. 4. 4. Free phosvitin was present only in the egg-yolk. 5. 5. No radioactivity was found in male serum proteins. Only some of the phosphorus-containing lipoproteins of egg-yolk entered the small-pore gels. © 1971.
