Abstract:
A sensitivity analysis of a computer simulation of two-dimensional root, water and nitrate distributions in the soil and uptake by the plants showed that the model is more sensitive to selected environmental parameters than to plant parameters. To evaluate the model, simulated and experimental results of cotton root and water content distributions in the soil during the growth period were compared. The model can reasonably predict root and water distributions in the soil under various conditions normally prevailing in the field.-from Authors
