Abstract:
Pods with only one mature seed are not desired among peanuts (Arachis hypogaea) that are marketed in the shell. Laboratory investigations led to the design of a recess configuration that can elevate those peanuts above a partition within a rotating drum without losing many good peanuts and without the recess becoming clogged. A full-scale model was developed for use in processing plants.
