Abstract:
Tissue culture methods have been used to isolate a light-sensitive mutant of Petunia hybrida. Exposure to normal light intensities causes the leaves of the mutant to become chlorophyll deficient with a corresponding reduction in growth rate. The effect is reversed when the mutant is grown in low light, and is caused by a single recessive allele al in homozygous conditions. The ultra-structure, chlorophyll content, and RuBPcase (EC 4.1.1.39) level in leaves of the mutant have been examined in low and normal light intensities. © 1979.
