Abstract:
The impact phenomenon is an important issue for many agricultural processes and thus deserves special attention. Not only is it one of the most common causes of mechanical damage to many agricultural products during harvesting and subsequent handling and processing, but its characteristics are utilized for performing various desired operations on the farm. This paper presents a review of selected aspects of the impact phenomenon in general, as they apply to impact experienced in agricultural processes. Theoretical analyses are described, relevant to the behavior of agricultural products, and various experimental investigations for measuring specific dynamic parameters, which either control or result from the impact process of these products. Finally, various applications of the impact phenomena in agriculture are reviewed, as manifested in a variety of agricultural products. © 1991.
