Abstract:
Solarium nigrum L. is represented in Israel by subsp. nigrum, and S. villosum Miller by subsp. villosum and subsp. puniceum (Kirschleger) Edmonds. Only S. villosum subsp. villosum is apparently native. Major distinctive characters of the species and subspecies are the type of indumentum, shape of calyx lobes, and color of leaves and ripe fruits. The significance of Solanum spp. as weeds is emphasized. © 1985 Springer Science + Business Media B.V.
