Abstract:
A survey of plantations over 30 years old in the Judean mountains and in the Shephela region was conducted to determine quantitative effects of the bedrock on the growth of Aleppo pine. Site quality was found to be strongly affected by both the lithological and moisture-retaining characters (rather than by the geological age). Mean height growth was lowest on limestone, and highest on marl and chalk, with dolomite occupying an intermediate position. © 1982.
