One thousand and two hundred juvenile red-claw crayfish were stocked into four earthen ponds together with fish for a 3-month growout period. Crayfish weighed about 3 g when stocked, at a low density of 0.75 per m2. Common carp Cyprinus carpio, silver carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix and a tilapia hybrid were stocked at a total fish density of 1 per m2. Survival and growth rates of the common carp and silver carp were high. That of the tilapia hybrid (Oreochromis niloticus × O. aureus) were somewhat lower, but still within the range obtained for polyculture of this hybrid without crayfish. Crayfish grew at a high daily rate of 0.3 g, attaining a mean weight of over 30 g. Males were slightly heavier than females at harvest (weighting 34.5 ± 3.4 and 31.9 ± 1.2 g, respectively). Survival of crayfish was low in all four ponds (25.1 ± 2.0%). -from Authors
