Abstract:
Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis is the causal agent of bacterial canker and wilt of tomato. In the year 2000, there was an increase in the number of infected production units as well as in the severity of the disease in Israel. As part of the effort to cope with the disease, a comprehensive survey was conducted. The results suggest an absence of anisotropy pattern in the study region. Global Moran's I analysis revealed strong spatial autocorrelation at the scale of 250 m which can potentially be attributed to individual farms, as growth structures located at these distances commonly belong to the same farm and are cultivated by the same grower. In addition, the results demonstrate that the most influential variable on bacterial canker severity was the 'Grower'. This variable probably encompasses variation in experience and differences in agricultural practices between growers.
