Abstract:
Two markers, chromium oxide and magnesium ferrite, were coated with an inert polymer, Laropal A81, by a simple procedure, without special equipment. The specific gravity of the coated markers (1.9) was similar to that of the feed. In an experiment with lambs, the concentration of the coated markers was determined in faeces obtained as grab samples and by total collection. The results suggest that coated markers may give reliable estimates of digestibility or faeces output. © 1989.
