Abstract:
The virus responsible for tomato pale chlorosis disease in Israel was purified from Nicotiana glutinosa plants. Purified virus contained a single stranded RN A of mol. wt 2.5 × 106 and a single coat protein subunit of mol. wt 31 000. Enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay and an immunoelectron microscopy decoration test demonstrated a serological relationship with cowpea mild mottle virus (CMMV). Based on the present study and previously reported data the virus was identified as a new strain of CMMV designated CMMV/I. Copyright © 1987, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
