A series of experiments were conducted with drip irrigation of apples in the Hule Valley of Israel with the objective of studying the response of apple growth, yield, fruit quality, root distribution, and water and mineral utilization to drip irrigation and fertigation. Comparisons were made also with microjet and sprinkler irrigation. Nitrogen fertigation during April, May, and June was found to increase yields and vegetative growth without any noticeable effect on fruit quality.
