Abstract:
Peroxidase activity was assayed and isoenzyme pattern was determined by starch gel electrophoresis in ovular calli of the 'Shamputi' orange. Callus from an embryogenic line showed a much higher peroxidase activity than callus from a non-embryogenic line. Within each callus line activity increased with age of stock callus and age of subcultured callus. Peak activity coincided with appearance of embryoids in culture. The isoenzyme pattern revealed one band, C4, typical of embryogenic callus. © 1977 Oxford University Press.
