Abstract:
Zooplankton dynamics was studied in an estuarine area through an annual cycle, including samples taken monthly, on two consecutive days and at two stations. Zooplankton numbers ranged from 50 individuals m-3 to 15 600 m-3, the annual mean being 3 900 m-3. Strong qualitative and quantitative variability was detected, and both hydrological and biological phenomena are pointed out as causes. A description of the changes in the zooplankton composition and their associated environmental conditions is made. Discussion covers also faunistic origins and biological aspects of some species. © 1985 Dr W. Junk Publishers.
