Interactions between fruit number and position in the cluster and growth of the individual fruits of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) were investigated. Basal fruits were heavier than others. The presence of additional fruits did not affect the weight of basal fruits, but the presence of basal fruits affected the development of additional fruits; smaller marketable and more undersized fruits. © 1983.
