New information is given on the distribution, host plants and economic importance of nine species of scale insects in the Middle East. These are:Proto-pulvinaria pyriformis (Cockerell), Saissetia privigna De Lotto, Aonidiella orientalis (Newstead), Eriococcus araucariae Maskell, E. coccineus Cockerell, Antonina natalensis Brain, Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell), Kiritshenkella sacchari (Green) and Nipaecoccus viridis (Newstead). A mealybug found infesting Pinus halepensis in Israel is described from the female as Phenacoccus yerushalmi n. sp. © 1985 Springer Science + Business Media B.V.
