‘Arma’ is a high-yielding cultivar of potato (Solanum tuberosum) with medium specific gravity, bred in Northern Ireland and selected in the Negev region in Israel as being suited there for the spring crop, between February and July. In the Negev, during these months, periods of dry weather occur with maximum temperatures up to 40 C. ‘Arma’ is a late-maturing tablestock cultivar, resistant to heat stress, Verticillium wilt, and early blight. Tuber shape is long-oval, distinctly regular, with shallow eyes; the skin is yellow and the flesh is creamy-white. Its long rest period makes it suitable for storage with relatively few problems. The heat stress resistance and the long rest period make Arma suitable for regions with hot climates. © 1987, Springer. All rights reserved.
