Ways to reduce the restitution coefficient, e//r, of firm bodies, like stones, without affecting the soft bodies, such as potatoes, were investigated. A technique based on energy absorption by elastic bending of plates was evaluated analytically and experimentally. Plate configurations which enable reduction of e//r for the stones without a noticeable change for the potatoes and the clods were obtained.
