Abstract:

Moray eels of the family Muraenidae are carnivorous fishes which inhabit, in the tropics, both the coral reef itself and the sandy areas with scattered boulders and corals. There are three genera of moray eels in the Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea: Echidna, Gymnothorax and Siderea. The moray eel Siderea grisea is the most common species of morays in the Northern Red Sea inhabiting the coral and rocky subtidal.
