Abstract:

Experiments were carried out in order to establish the effect of some growth regulators on the development of Sclerotium rolfsii. Triethanolamine was found to be physiologically active; coumarin, maleic hydrazide, and triethanolamine cause pronounced inhibition of germination of sclerotia and reduction in the number of sclerotia per culture. Coumarin in concentrations of 50–100 p.p.m. increased the size of the developing sclerotia. α-Naphthylacetic acid inhibited germination but had a promoting effect on the development of sclerotia. In concentrations of 50–100 p.p.m. it caused a more compact and dense development of the mycelium and lowered the rate of growth.
