Abstract:

In situ electrical conductivity of a soil solution (ECw) was calculated using the four‐electrode technique and a newly suggested calibration procedure. The ECw values were compared with electrical conductivity of soil solution extracts (EC1:1), and the difference was due to variations in soil moisture and total salt content of the soil. The suggested calibration method and its application are compared with previous ones. Water content, surface electrical conductivity, and replacement of EC of the saturated extract by EC of drainage solution are considered.
