Abstract:

.Effective monitoring of biodiversity uses replicable methods to sample key indicators of ecological threats and processes in discrete ecosystems and regions. At repeated intervals, monitoring produces an assessment of the “state of nature.” Conceptual models of environmental drivers and responses are developed for each ecosystem or region to link the indicators and assessments to conservation or management goals.
