Repeated selection of open-pollinated Prunus amygdalus var. amara from trees in a nursery heavily infested with Meloidogyne javanica gave highly resistant progenies, suggesting dominance or the presence of a cytoplasmic factor. Reciprocal crosses of two susceptible sweet almond cultivars with the resistant Okinawa peach gave a high percentage of resistant seedlings.
