Experiments using the commercial sesame var. 'Renner 15' demonstrated that Sclerotium bataticola[Macrophomina phaseolina] [Macrophomina phaseoli[Macrophomina phaseolina]: 37: 339], to which this var. is very susceptible, is seed borne, and a high degree of seed infection may account for low field germination.
