The primary objective of a drip system design is to choose appropriate components and layout to attain adequate distribution of water (and fertilizer) throughout the field to meet crop needs with consideration of economical, operational, water quantity, and water quality constraints. Well-designed drip systems should provide equal (and adequate) soil water availability to all plants in the field at high irrigation efficiency.
