Abstract:
Biosynthesis of ent-kaurene was studied in extracts of germinating seeds and tumor cells of sunflower. Cell-free extracts derived from germinating seeds catalyzed the formation of [14C]ent-kaurene from [14C]mevalonate. On the other hand, extracts derived from tumor cells induced by two strains of Agrobacterium tumefaciens when incubated with [14C]mevalonate showed no conversion of the substrate to any detectable amount of [14C]ent-kaurene. Extracts of tumor cells were found to contain an inhibitory activity of ent-kaurene synthesis. © 1989.
