Abstract:
Drip irrigation became a major irrigation system for cotton in Israel during the last decade (Plaut, 1983). In spite of the high productivity of drip irrigated cotton, the high cost and low durability of the system as well as the labor involved in annual installing and dismantling are serious limitations. Subsurface trickle irrigation overcomes many of these difficulties as it can be installed once for many years. Subsurface trickle irrigation was used in the past for several crops. The purpose of this study was to determine productivity and water consumption of cotton under surface and subsurface trickle irrigation.
