Abstract:
Simultaneous distributions of water, NO//3-N and P in clay and sandy soils irrigated daily from a trickle source were studied in the laboratory. Increasing the trickle discharge rate in the sandy soil increased the vertical movement of the wetted front and decreased the horizontal movement. In a sequence of three cycles of irrigation with a nutrient solution, losses in nitrate concentration in the clay soil were observed.
