Abstract:
The immediate response of sugarbeet plants to an osmotic shock caused by plant exposure to salinity was investigated. Co2fixation was remarkably inhibited within one hour after salt application. Translocation patterns of control and treated plants and the partitioning of 14C among photosynthates are also presented. It is suggested that the differences obtained are a result of solution concentration following the severe water loss. © 1991 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
