Abstract:
Seven foliage plant genera were subjected to dark-storage durations of 7, 14, 21 or 28 days at various temperatures. All stored plants maintained good quality after 28 days of storage at certain temperatures. Dracaena 'Massangeana' and Howeia forsterana maintained good quality when stored at temperatures of 10, 13, 16 or 19°C. Aglaonema 'Fransher' and Codiaeum 'Norma' stored best at 13, 16 or 19°C, while Yucca elephantipes maintained best quality after storage at 10, 13 or 16°C. Brassaia actinophylla stored best at 7 or 13°C, but Spathiphyllum 'Clevelandii' maintained good quality after storage at 7, 13 or 19°C. Thirteen to 16°C appears to be a satisfactory temperature range for storage of these foliage plants for 3-4 weeks. © 1984.
