Abstract:
Oils of various composition showed a promising efficacy against Bemisia (Hemiptera: Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) in greenhouse and field evaluations. The effectiveness of the oil formulations was attributed both to settling deterrence and/or repellency of adults, as well as to physical toxicity to immature stages. However, both the activity on the target-insect and the phytotoxic nature of the formulations varied with the composition of the oils. Highly saturated or non-drying fatty oils offer safer to crops, and more persistent against Bemisia than drying oils.
