Abstract:

Boarmia selenaria Schiff, is an important pest of avocado in Israel. In the laboratory, 20–30‐mg larvae could be grown conveniently to maturity on avocado leaves and on alfalfa, and to a lesser extent on cotton leaves. Attempts to culture the larvae on leaves of sugar beet, eggplant, strawberry, lima beans and maize, and on potato tubers, failed. Die Zucht von Raupen des Spanners Boarmia (Ascotis) selenaria Schiff. (Lepidoptera, Geometridae) auf Blättern verschiedener Kulturpflanzenarten Boarmia selenaria Schiff, ist ein bedeutender Avocado‐Schädling in Israel. Im Laboratorium konnten 20–30 mg schwere Raupen sehr gut auf Avocado‐Blättern und auf Luzerne und weniger erfolgreich auf Baumwollblättern bis zur Imago gezüchtet werden. Versuche, die Raupen auf Blättern von Zuckerrübe, Eierpflanze, Lima‐Bohnen und Mais sowie auf Kartoffelknollen zu züchten, waren erfolglos. 1982 Blackwell Verlag GmbH
