Abstract:
The objective of the work described was to obtain an indication of the importance of potassium metaphosphate for cotton, grown under irrigation, on two types of soil, rich in exchangeable K. The paper summarizes experimental work carried out in pots, comparing potassium metaphosphate, potassium chloride and potassium sulfate with the control- without potassium. No response in yield and to some characteristics of quality were found on either soil, from the three potassium sources. There was, however, a significant and interesting response to potassium fertilization, including potassium metaphosphate, shown by a significant higher content of K in fertilized plants. This was shown from the chemical analyses of samples taken from the treated and untreated plants. © 1969 Dr. W. Junk N.V. - Publishers.
