Abstract:
A general expression has been formulated for assessing the screening duration effect on particle entrapment in the perforations. This expression contains both clogging and passage rate factors, defined for each size fraction of the material to be screened. A simplified version of the expression, based solely on clogging rate factors, can be used for determining the trapping of oversize particles, as they cannot pass through the screen perforations. Methods for determining the clogging rate factors for oversize and undersize particles are detailed. The effect of particle size on the clogging rate is investigated.
