Abstract:
A survey of u.v. patterns in the traps of carnivorous plants reveals that, similar to many flowers, certain traps show conspicuous u.v. patterns. These patterns are based on both u.v.‐absorption by the plant surface itself and u.v.‐absorption by nectar or pools of the digestive secretion. The results are discussed with respect to the possibility that u.v. patterns may attract prey to certain carnivorous plants. Copyright © 1985, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
