Abstract:
A method and equipment for mechanized micropropagation of potato and banana is described. The method employs multiplication of meristematic or bud clusters on interfacial membrane rafts and in plastic film air lift bioreactors, separation of the clusters by a mechanical cutting device and subculture to multiplication or to a growth medium on an interfacial membrane raft. For potato the production of microtubers in a tuber induction medium is also reported.
