The effects of feeding dairy cows in hot weather conditions mostly at night rather than day hours was studied in two herds in the hot valleys of Israel during summer 1999. Cows in each herd were allocated either to a regular day feeding regimen or to a night feeding regimen that encouraged them to eat the larger portion of the daily intake in the cooler hours of the day. In one herd the experiment was terminated after one month due to a diseases outbreak.
