A primary goal of the workshop was to reignite a mindset for and foster an active approach to developing collaborative research in aquaculture genetics. While a major emphasis of this goal was on increasing US‐Israeli cooperative research programs in aquaculture genetics, there were several facets of collaborative work that were also emphasized and considered in our presentations and deliberations. Among those were: • Collaborative efforts among industry, extension and researchers to consider how to develop genetic programs that will optimize returns on capital and manpower investments and that could identify some areas of common grounds for a diverse industry.
