Abstract:

The enantiomeric composition of citronellol (trifluoroacetyl derivative) was determined on a commercially available fused-silica chiral capillary column, Lipodex E. Laboratory-made geranium Bourbon oils yielded higher enantiomeric excesses of ( - )citronello1 than commercial Bourbon oils, and than Egyptian-type oils. In addition high enantiomeric excesses of (-)-citronello1 from rose oil and (+ )-citronello1 from citronella oil were detected.
