Abstract:

Effects of concentration and composition of soil solution on soil-water retention were tested in a loamy soil from Gilat, Israel. The soil samples were equilibrated with solutions containing given concentrations and compositions of calcium and sodium prior to determination of soil-water—suction relationships (under wetting). Volumetric water content in a calcium-saturated system is found to be dependent solely on soil-water suction and not
on solution concentration.
