The trickle irrigation method has been used for many years in greenhouses. Only relatively recently has it been introduced on a large scale as a field irrigation method. The method consists of applying water under low pressure through nozzles inserted in a plastic pipe which is placed directly on the ground. The spacing of nozzles along the plastic line as well as spacing between lines may vary on the basis of plant and soil characteristics.
